The walk up from Mykonos Town's old port takes a few minutes and ends on a white terrace cut into the hillside, the Aegean and the rooftops spread out below. Rochari Hotel has stood on this spot since 1976, opened by the Kousathanas family and still run by them. The house takes no guests under eighteen. For anyone who wants the town within reach and the noise kept outside the gate.

Expect Cycladic plain: white walls, dark wood shutters, a mini-bar and a kettle for coffee before you've decided on breakfast. The windows are the point — from most rooms you look out at Delos, Tinos and Syros across open water; take a garden-side room instead and you trade the view for quiet, further from the pool bar and its evening DJ. Thirteen rooms only, so the terrace by the pool rarely fills up, even with the bar open past midnight. Breakfast runs eight to eleven in a sunlit room off the terrace, and the restaurant reopens at noon for the Lounge Terrace's version of Greek home cooking. The Kousathanas family still runs the desk themselves, the way they have since 1976.

Rochari Hotel sets a minimum age of 18 in its own house rules, written at rochari.com, and read there on 11 August 2026. A house whose rule drops below eighteen, or stops naming an age, is taken off HUSH — how every house is checked.

Above the old town

Rochari sits high on the hillside a short walk from the old port, a cluster of low white Cycladic buildings stepping down toward the water. From the pool terrace and the balconies the whole of Mykonos Town spreads out below, and the sea and distant islands close the view. It is far enough up for the noise of the harbour to fade, near enough to walk down into the lanes when you want them.

Suites and their views

Inside, the design stays minimal and unhurried: grey stone floors, wire chairs, a low sofa in oatmeal linen, art on a plaster wall. Wide doors slide back so the living space runs straight out to a private terrace, some with a plunge pool at the threshold and a table set for a slow breakfast. Every room is turned toward the light, and the sunset does the rest.

The Rochari hotel is located in the main town of Mykonos, and though not in it's centre, it's close enough to walk into the centre and back if you're free of mobility issues. It's set up on a hill which does mean it...
Good to know

Our tips

The pool bar after dark

The bar by the pool runs until two in the morning, and a DJ sets in as the light goes — take a lounger on the west side and watch Mykonos Town turn pink below you, then it's a few steps back to your room.

Dinner on the Lounge Terrace

The restaurant opens at noon, but book a table at dusk instead, when the terrace faces the sunset and the kitchen serves Greek home-style dishes rather than anything more elaborate.

The old port, on foot

Mykonos Town's old port is a few minutes' downhill walk from the gate — windmills, fishing boats, the first bars of the evening — then it's back up the hill to a terrace that's quieter than anywhere you just left.

Sea view or garden side

Rooms on the sea side put Delos, Tinos and Syros right off the balcony, past the pool terrace and the rooftops of the town. The garden-side rooms lose that view but sit further from the pool bar, so evenings stay quieter if that's what you're after.
