In Dar El Bacha, the antiques quarter of the Marrakech medina, five minutes on foot from the Medersa Ben Youssef, an ordinary door opens onto a house built in 1750. Riad Tizou is what came of it: fully renovated and redecorated in 2022, six rooms around a patio, a clean contemporary style with a run of Moroccan craft through it. It takes no guests under eighteen. For two people who want the medina five minutes away and the door shut behind them the rest of the time.
Downstairs the patio is where the riad happens, with rooms opening straight onto it. When the evening turns cool, the first-floor winter lounge takes over; when it doesn't, there's the terrace, loungers out, a reading and dining corner, a fireplace lit through the cold months, and a bar pouring orange juice pressed from local fruit. Six rooms only, so none of these corners is ever a queue. Breakfast is not a buffet: fresh-pressed juice, traditional bread, Moroccan crêpes, honey from the Atlas, jam made in the house kitchen. Lunch stays light, dinner turns to traditional Moroccan menus, and everything on the table was bought that same morning.
Riad Tizou sets a minimum age of 18 in its own house rules, written at riadtizou.com, and read there on 11 August 2026. A house whose rule drops below eighteen, or stops naming an age, is taken off HUSH — how every house is checked.
The heart of the house is its patio, ringed by columns and wrought-iron balustrades beneath a green-tiled roofline that opens to the sky. Ground-floor rooms give straight onto it, and there are corners to settle into through the day: the courtyard itself, a first-floor winter salon for cooler evenings, and a shaded seat where the light moves slowly across the zellige.
Climb to the roof and the medina spreads out under a thatched shade. This is where breakfast is laid — freshly pressed juice, traditional bread and warm Moroccan crêpes made by the house cook — and where loungers wait for the slow middle of the day. As the air cools, the fireplace in the dining corner is lit and dinner is served beneath the lanterns.

Asking the house for its rooms…
I loved my stay here. Leia and Said were amazing, the chef was so incredible-- waking up to eggs and crepes and confiture by the fire was so hard to leave. Said Leia helped me with anything I needed, like, above and...
Said is the best host ever. He takes care of everything in the nicest way possible. We were so impressed and we felt at home all the time. Breakfast is superb!
Lovely clean property, lovely staff and very welcoming. I would highly recommend if you want somewhere peaceful, quiet and away from the market and street noise.
Said made the stay an amazing experience. He was very kind and was happy to help with everything. The riad was very nice and it was fully renovated and it was really quiet although it is very central.

Riad Tizou can be booked in full, with its dedicated team, for a weekend among friends, a birthday, a wedding. Ask ahead and the six rooms work as one house, just for your party.
Fresh-pressed juice, traditional bread, Moroccan crêpes, honey from the Atlas, jam made in the house kitchen — all included in the room rate. Lunch is kept light; dinner turns traditional Moroccan, and everything is bought and cooked the same day.
The well-known Koranic school, Medersa Ben Youssef, is five minutes on foot from the door. Jemaa El Fna, the main square, is a ten-minute walk the other way — come back to the patio afterwards, out of the crowd.
When the evenings turn cool, the fireplace on the terrace stays lit and the first-floor lounge is where the house moves for the night. Six rooms mean it never feels like sharing.
