H Adelphi Boutique Hotel Rooms & prices

Rabat sits just outside Mdina, and the Adelphi keeps to a quiet corner of the suburb: four rooms above its own restaurant, small enough that the dining room downstairs never feels crowded. Each room is air-conditioned, with a desk, a minibar and its own safe. The hotel is adults-only, and the Roman Villa is a nine-minute walk from the door. For a couple who want Mdina within reach and a table downstairs when the walking is done.

Each room upstairs comes with air conditioning, a desk and a minibar, a safety deposit box, satellite television and a bathroom with a bath or a shower, plus bed linen and towels laid ready; two of the rooms add a balcony, one a sofa bed for a third guest. Breakfast is continental or a full English or Irish, and the restaurant downstairs works from Traditional Maltese recipes alongside pizza cooked in a wood-fired stone oven and food off the grill. It caters for staff parties and groups too, so if you want the room to yourselves, ask what is booked before you sit down.

Adelphi Boutique Hotel sets a minimum age of 18 in its own house rules, written at booking.com, and read there on 11 August 2026. A house whose rule drops below eighteen, or stops naming an age, is taken off HUSH — how every house is checked.

The suites

The upper suites are the hotel's flourish: a four-poster framed in gauzy white drapes against a deep terracotta wall, a sofa to sink into, an ice bucket waiting on the floor. Polished silver-grey plaster catches the lamplight, and the day slows to the pace of a long breakfast and a late night in. These are rooms made for a couple to close the door on Malta and simply stay a while.

By the balcony

Most rooms open onto a balcony of their own, two chairs and a small table set above the pale limestone of the old town. Mornings arrive with coffee and the bells of the nearby parish church; evenings soften over the rooftops of Rabat, with the ramparts of Mdina a short walk beyond. It is the kind of perch that turns a glass of local wine into the evening's whole plan.

I chose the hotel just because I wanted to see the old capital of Malta on the occasion of my one-night business trip to the island. Both the capital city of Valletta and the airport can be reached from there in less...

Our tips

Dinner from the wood-fired oven

The restaurant on the ground floor works a wood-fired stone oven for its pizzas, alongside a Traditional Maltese menu and food off the grill. It also takes bookings for staff parties and groups, so check what is on before you plan a quiet table for two.

Breakfast, your way

Breakfast comes continental or as a full English or Irish, whichever you ask for the night before. Either way it is served downstairs, in the same room where dinner happens later.

Roman Villa, a nine-minute walk

The Roman Villa is seven hundred metres from the door, about nine minutes on foot, on the edge of Mdina's old suburb of Rabat. Go in the cool of the morning and be back in time for breakfast.

The balcony rooms

Two of the four rooms — the deluxe suite and the penthouse — come with their own balcony, on top of the fridge bar and the tea and coffee tray every room gets. Ask for one of these if you want a step outside without leaving the building.
