In Ballyorgan, on the edge of the Ballyhoura Mountains in County Limerick, the tracks and trails start almost at the door. Ballyhoura Glamping is a single pod set on its own patch, with a landscaped patio that looks out at the hills. It takes no guests under eighteen. For two people who want the mountains without needing to drive to reach them.

The pod stands alone on its plot, the patio angled at the hills rather than at a neighbour — there is only the one, so nobody else's evening spills into yours. Inside: comfortable bedding, and a hot tub outside for whichever hour you decide is evening. The welcome basket is put together from produce grown nearby, and the toiletries are Irish-made and organic. Wake to birdsong and the Ballyhoura hills doing whatever the light does that morning; the trails themselves start close enough to reach on foot, boots on, no car needed.

Ballyhoura Glamping sets a minimum age of 18 in its own house rules, written at ballyhouraglamping.ie, and read there on 11 August 2026. A house whose rule drops below eighteen, or stops naming an age, is taken off HUSH — how every house is checked.

The pod

One arched room holds everything: a king bed dressed in white linen against a dark feature wall, a deep sofa, and a kitchenette with a hob and a Ninja oven for making dinner your own. The curved pine shell makes it feel like a cabin in the best sense — snug, wood-scented, and yours alone for the length of the stay, with underfloor warmth and a smart TV for the slow evenings.

Facing the hills

Two armchairs sit on the gravel patio looking straight out at Seefin and the green shoulder of the Ballyhoura range. Mornings begin with coffee from the cafetière and birdsong; evenings end under strung lights with the hills fading to blue. This is the whole point of the place — a private outdoor room where the only company is the one you came with.

Good to know

Our tips

The hot tub after dark

The patio is built for exactly one hot tub and one view, so light it after dinner and let the Ballyhoura hills go dark in front of you. Nobody else booked in is waiting for the same hour.

Breakfast without leaving the pod

Breakfast is brought to the room rather than served at a shared table. Eat it on the patio if the hills are clear, at whatever hour suits you.

The Ballyhoura trails on foot

The trail network is walking distance from the pod, with routes through forest and over the hills for most levels of walker. Come back to the hot tub and the patio, mountains behind you instead of ahead.
