On the peninsula between Ornos and Ag. Ioannis bays, the ground drops downhill toward a cove on Mykonos's sunset side. Six rooms sit here, each turned toward sea, garden or open landscape. This is Apsenti, adults-only and built for two — no children, no extended family, just a couple and a long stretch of unscheduled time. For anyone who wants the whole island to slow to the pace of a private terrace.
Six rooms altogether, which is why the pool never feels like a crowd to negotiate. The honeymoon maisonettes among them are stone-built the traditional way by local workers, across two floors, with a bathtub-jacuzzi inside and, on one, a solar-heated whirlpool on the terrace. The rest keep to queen beds on memory-foam mattresses, minibar, safety box, and a window that lands on sea or garden depending on where you end up. Wine and cocktails move to the pool at dusk, where dinner is set at five tables under the open air — fresh fish, feta, prosciutto, local wine. Days here run on the whirlpool, the steam room, and however late breakfast wants to arrive.

Each room carries the same restraint — thick whitewashed walls, blue-shuttered windows, an antique mirror, an iron bed dressed in white and veiled by a soft canopy. They are named for the mood they keep rather than a number: Sweet Hug, Love Nest, Heaven Suite. Nothing competes with the light or the quiet; the idea is to have less around you and more of each other.
Arrival comes with a chilled bottle set in ice and a tier of cut fruit dressed in bougainvillea — a small ceremony laid on for two. Mornings, a generous buffet breakfast is set out beside the pool and stays until noon, so there is no reason to hurry; evenings turn to slow dinners built from local varieties, eaten under the Mykonian dark.

Most of the six rooms have their own outdoor whirlpool, filled with fresh water rather than salt — fill it as the sun goes toward Ornos and the light turns copper. The spa's Mykonian massage, done with essential oils, is booked for two, in a steam room kept in absolute privacy.
The dining corner seats only five tables, alfresco beside the pool, with fresh fish, feta, prosciutto and Greek olive oil making up the local menu. There's no overflow room, so it's worth asking for a table when you check in rather than at seven that evening.
Agios Ioannis beach is a five-minute walk downhill, sand and shallow water in the lee of the peninsula. Ornos, on the other side, takes closer to ten minutes on foot or a couple of minutes by car — either way, you're back at your own whirlpool before the ice in your drink has melted.
A bus to Mykonos town runs every thirty minutes, day and night, and covers the five-minute drive past the windmills and Little Venice. Go for the evening light on the harbour, then come back to a quiet terrace and a dinner table that's still yours.
