H Riad Chayma Marrakech Rooms & prices

The Medina's walls close around a run of narrow lanes in Bab Doukkala, and past them Riad Chayma keeps five rooms around a courtyard strung with bougainvillea, filigree lamps and a small fountain. It sits between Jemaa El Fna and the newer Marrakesh Plaza, a fifteen-minute drive from Marrakech Menara Airport, and it is adults-only. For anyone who wants the old city within reach, and a courtyard to retreat to afterwards.

Inside, the courtyard is filigree lamps, bougainvillea and the sound of a small fountain — the spot for breakfast or lunch once the weather cools. The adjoining salon carries the same craft indoors: an intricately carved plaster fireplace, artisan lights, fossils and artefacts set against floor-to-ceiling glass and polished marble. Through that glass, a plunge pool sits under a ceiling of hand-carved spheres that scatter light like stars when you swim beneath them. Five rooms only — four suites and one deluxe room, each with its own tadelakt bathroom — so the courtyard rarely holds more than a couple of guests at a time.

Riad Chayma Marrakech sets a minimum age of 18 in its own house rules, read on 11 August 2026. A house whose rule drops below eighteen, or stops naming an age, is taken off HUSH — how every house is checked.

The rooftop terrace

Up above the arches, the roof terrace catches the Marrakech sun. Loungers and low tables sit behind a wrought-iron rail, and a straw hat and a rolled towel are usually all the afternoon asks for. Breakfast, a pot of mint tea or a late glass of your own wine can each be carried up here, with the medina rooftops and the call to prayer for company.

Rooms in tadelakt

Each room takes a colour and a name of its own - Bougainvillea, Jasmine, Saffron, Orange, Mint. Beds rest on tadelakt platforms beneath illuminated filigree headboards, walls are hand-finished in polished plaster, and the marble bathrooms hold deep tubs and his-and-hers basins. The effect is warm and low-lit, closer to a private house than a hotel.

Perfect location in the medina but close enough to the edge that it was a very short walk for tour companies to pick you up on motorised roads. Beautiful riad with very attentive and friendly staff and delicious...

Excellent breakfast and location. Best feature was the friendly staff, made us feel very welcome and happy. Location is excellent, inside the Medina but really close to Bab Doukala.

Our tips

The pool under a ceiling of stars

Behind the salon's arched glass walls, the plunge pool sits beneath a ceiling of hand-carved spheres that scatter light like stars once the sun goes down — an hour worth keeping before dinner rather than saving for the morning.

Dinner from the Riad kitchen

Breakfast is included every morning; ask ahead and the kitchen will also do a Moroccan lunch, afternoon tea or dinner, served in the courtyard under the bougainvillea.

Jemaa El Fna and back

Riad Chayma sits inside the Medina walls, placed between Jemaa El Fna's square and the newer Marrakesh Plaza — walk out into the old city's noise or the calmer new town, then back to a quiet courtyard and the sound of the fountain.

Courtyard breakfast in the cooler months

When the days cool, breakfast and lunch move into the courtyard, beneath the bougainvillea and filigree lamps, with the fountain running behind you.
