Gili Trawangan allows no cars and no motorbikes, so the last stretch to Pearl Sunset Resort is on foot, along the sunset side of the island, until the tropical garden and the private beach open out in front of seven rooms. It takes no guests under eighteen. Two pools: one beachfront, facing Mount Agung across the water, the other set back in the garden. For two people who want the day to end in nothing but a sunset and a thousand stars.
Seven rooms only, so the two pools rarely feel shared with anyone else. The Deluxe rooms sit less than a minute's walk from the beach, looking onto the tropical garden and the main pool; the Ocean View rooms take the breeze straight off the water instead, and a few of each have their own balcony. Inside: a flat-screen television, an electric tea pot, bed linen and towels laid out plain. Breakfast comes à la carte or continental, and the beachfront pool bar will send a Mixed Berry Mojito or a whole fresh coconut down to your sunbed without your having to ask twice.

Each room is its own small gallery. A single wall is hand-finished in gold leaf, burnt orange or sea-green and hung with matching canvases, set against white walls, pale stone and warm teak. Sliding glass doors run the width of the room and open directly onto the garden and the pool terrace, so the day begins by simply stepping outside to the loungers and the water.
The resort runs down to its own stretch of white sand, where the Cloud9 beach lounge spreads day-beds and a scalloped canopy along the water. This is the sunset side of the island: in the late afternoon the loungers turn to face the sea, the reef breaks offshore, and the sky colours over the water toward Bali and the distant cone of Mount Agung.

Design and bedrooms food was good and staff very friendly
Very nice hotel, nice poolarea. Good food. The beach on this side is not so good for swimming (many corals) so you need to rent a bike and go to the otherside if you like to swim in the ocean. But a really nice place...
