Passion Restaurant sits right at the water's edge, and for anyone celebrating something, the kitchen will lay a table on the sand instead of in the dining room, lit by candles once the sun is down. The kitchen works the island's own spices into a sea-to-table menu — whatever came in that morning decides the dish.
The rooftop terrace looks straight out over the ocean and doubles as a second dining room — ask for a table there instead of the garden if you want the horizon with your dinner. Rooms with their own balcony face the same water, so you don't have to leave the room for the view.
The thing worth noticing here: in the Superior and Deluxe rooms, the furniture is built from the timber of retired Zanzibar dhow boats — old wood, hand-worked, holding up a bed instead of a hull.
