Fifteen kilometres out of Rovaniemi, past the last streetlights, the forest closes in between the Ounasjoki river and Nuuksvaara hill. Nova Galaxy Village is what waits there: a handful of glass-walled huts, each with its own wood-burning sauna, kept for adults only. Two people to a hut, a fire lit somewhere before you arrive, and nothing scheduled beyond what the sky decides to do overhead. For anyone chasing the Northern lights without leaving a window seat.
Each Aurora Hut is built around its window: glass walls that turn the pines, and on a clear night the sky itself, into the view, with a private wood-burning sauna standing in its own small building outside. Two hut styles sit on the land — one among the trees, one on the Ounasjoki river itself, floating in summer and autumn before freezing fast into the ice by winter, its sauna shared but bookable at a set hour. Kept this small, the fire pit and the picnic tables outside are usually yours to sit at unhurried. A Northern Lights alert is built into the stay, so you don't have to sit up watching the sky yourself.
Nova Galaxy Village sets a minimum age of 18 in its own house rules, written at novagalaxyvillage.com, and read there on 11 August 2026. A house whose rule drops below eighteen, or stops naming an age, is taken off HUSH — how every house is checked.
Twelve Aurora Huts sit apart among the trees, each capped by a transparent dome that turns the bed into a front-row seat for the night sky. A private wood-burning sauna adjoins every hut, so the ritual of heat and cold, steam and snow, belongs to you alone, a few steps from your own door.
Dinner happens around an open fire at Stella Nova Flame, the resort's own Nordic kitchen, where blackened kettles hang over the flames and the timber walls hold the warmth in. Courses arrive slowly and unhurried, the way a long, dark northern evening seems to ask them to.

Asking the house for its rooms…
Is magical place with the kindest people you find.
It was out in a remote area north of rovaniemi which provided excellent sheltered living to view the night sky with minimal light pollution
Spectacular little huts only 15 mins out of Rovaniemi but secluded in the wilderness. Huts are very comfortable and have everything you need. Private sauna is a great extra. Special compliments too the chefs on site,...
The staff were pleasant and were very attentive to our needs. The location was good since it’s away from the city centre lights.

The house lists these as things to do from here. Where a line is marked off-site it is not on the property — a dive site, a trail, a stable. That mark is ours, not theirs.
The stay comes with a real-time Northern Lights alert, so you can sleep with the curtain open and trust it to wake you rather than stand outside checking the sky. The wood-burning sauna, lit in its own building beside your hut, is the better place to wait out a clear night anyway.
Dinner here is cooked on an open fire in front of you, built around handpicked berries and locally caught fish — the kind of Finnish cooking that has always depended on flame rather than a stove.
Arctic Woods Huskies, a small kennel of local mushers from Rovaniemi, runs the resort's husky hour at eleven each morning between December and March, weather allowing. It's an hour, not an expedition, and you're back in time for lunch by the outdoor fireplace.
Ask for one of the Aurora Huts – River Side and the season decides your view: the hut floats on the Ounasjoki in summer and autumn, then sits frozen into the ice by winter, with its own riverside sauna bookable at a set hour.
