In the heart of Nicosia's Old Town, a former bakery and mill — Cyprus's first — has been rebuilt into six suites, its marble spiral staircase, one of the last of its kind in Cyprus, still climbing to the upper floor. Madama Residence takes no guests under eighteen. For two people who want the Old Town at the door and nothing to arrange once they're through it.
Inside, the five-year renovation kept what the old bakery and mill left behind: stone floors, wood-beamed ceilings, and design details that nod to the building's Byzantine and Ottoman past. Six suites only, gathered around a private lounge on the upper floor, reached by the marble spiral staircase. Windows give onto the Old Town's rooftops, or down to the café-bar terrace, where the coffee runs from morning and the bar switches to cocktails once the sun drops. Dinner is downstairs at Madama Restaurant, a seasonal Italian Mediterranean sharing menu. Room service runs until ten.
Madama Residence sets a minimum age of 18 in its own house rules, written at madama.com.cy, and read there on 11 August 2026. A house whose rule drops below eighteen, or stops naming an age, is taken off HUSH — how every house is checked.
No two rooms repeat. Each of the six suites is dressed in its own palette of ochres, teals and deep greens, set under traditional timber ceilings and hung with old-master reproductions. Marble and stone floors, restored shuttered windows and softly lit corners keep the mood firmly period and firmly adult, an unhurried bubble a few steps from the busy lanes outside.
Downstairs, the old mill's stone arches shelter Madama Restaurant, where an Italian-Mediterranean sharing menu is set out across marble-topped tables, velvet banquettes and framed still-lifes. An indoor bar pours signature cocktails and island wines, and by day the artisan coffee moves out to the sunny terrace — the heart of the house from breakfast to a late dinner.

The restaurant that serves Madama's Italian Mediterranean menu at night turns into a breakfast room each morning, with a spread for suite guests and a separate à la carte list if you want something cooked to order.
By day it's espresso and people-watching from the street terrace; once the sun goes, the same counter switches over to the cocktail list and craft beer.
The Old Town's historic bathhouse, where Madama arranges private, Byzantine-style rituals and treatments — worth asking about at check-in if a hammam is part of why you're here.
Madama arranges private pick-up from the airport, and once you're in the suite the mini-bar is stocked and already included — no need to go looking for a shop on the first night.
