H Sonus Alpis Rooms & prices

Kastelruth sits at the foot of the Seiser Alm, and it is here, among the Dolomites, that Sonus Alpis keeps thirteen rooms and a piano. The lounge bar opens onto a grand piano before you have set down your bags; past it, a rehearsal room with an electric piano, and a music library with a fireplace and tablets loaded with a chosen collection. It is adults only, run by the Marmsoler family since 2021. For anyone who wants Bach after dinner and nothing else on the calendar.

Thirteen rooms means the piano in the lounge bar is rarely fought over, and the music library — fireplace lit, tablets loaded with a selected collection — usually has a chair free. The bar opens at eight each morning; it runs until eleven Thursday through Tuesday, closing earlier on Wednesdays at half past eight, with cocktails poured from half past three. Past the lounge, the rehearsal room keeps an electric piano under the window for whoever wants it before dinner. The kitchen cooks with herbs from the hotel's own garden and pours South Tyrolean wine, and the house runs on hydropower from South Tyrol. The Marmsoler family has kept guesthouses in Kastelruth since 1970, and Sonus Alpis has been theirs since the spring of 2021.

Sonus Alpis sets a minimum age of 18 in its own house rules, read on 11 August 2026. A house whose rule drops below eighteen, or stops naming an age, is taken off HUSH — how every house is checked.

Under the Sciliar

From the garden the Sciliar climbs straight out of the forest, and the timber house is turned to meet it. Larch-screened balconies step down toward the lawn, sun-loungers wait on the grass, and the massif fills the frame from every terrace, which is the reason the whole building sits at the angle it does.

Rooms in stone pine

Each room borrows the name of a native bird and the grain of a local tree. Studios, suites and apartments are panelled in spruce and stone pine, some with a compact kitchen and a leather sofa turned to the window; beds are dressed in white against the pale wood, and the largest apartments run to sixty square metres or more.

Our tips

The music library

Fireplace lit, tablets loaded with a chosen collection of recordings — this is where the house means what its name says. Take a seat after dinner and let someone else choose what plays.

Cocktails from half three

The bar pours cocktails from 3.30 p.m. daily, and stays open until eleven Thursday through Tuesday. On Wednesdays it closes earlier, at 8.30 p.m., so plan the after-dinner drink around it.

Herbs from the garden

The kitchen cooks regional and seasonal, with herbs cut from the hotel's own garden and a wine list built around South Tyrolean producers.

Get around on the Südtirol Guest Pass

Every stay includes the Südtirol Guest Pass, which covers public transport across the region — a way to see the Seiser Alm and beyond without a car. Charging points are on site for those who bring their own.
