Meals are served on an open terrace pinned to the edge of the ridge, the whole coastline laid out beyond the glass rail — on a clear day the sandbar of the Whale's Tail draws its long line into the water. The kitchen leans on what the surrounding farms and forest give it, and dinner tends to run late as the light turns gold and then pink over the Pacific.

Marino Ballena's sandbar — the Whale's Tail visible from the treehouses — is a short ride on the hotel's own daily beach shuttle, included with every stay. Time it for low tide, when the sandbar clears fully, then come back up to the pool at the clubhouse.
