In Córdoba's old quarter, past callejuelas that have carried water and jasmine for centuries, a fifteenth-century patio house sits behind an unmarked door. It was a posada once, then a cape-maker's workshop, then a patio de vecinos, before it became Hotel Boutique Patio del Posadero. It takes no guests under eighteen. For the two of you who want mornings that run long and nothing else on the calendar.
Andalusian lime plaster meets exposed steel down the corridors, the kind of restoration that took eight years, stone by stone. The patio is the plan: every room opens onto it, and in the evenings woodsmoke drifts up from the lounge, where the fire is lit with wood cut from the hotel's own olive trees — the same trees that give the house its olive oil, Joya del Abuelo. Eight rooms, and a courtyard that spent a decade in Córdoba's Fiesta de los Patios, which is why it never feels crowded now. Breakfast moves between the fireside sofa and the patio table, however long the two of you want to sit there. José Ariza designs the dinner menus himself, and no two nights get the same one.

At the heart of the house is the patio it is named for, a cobbled Córdoban courtyard restored around a single tall palm, its walls softened by monstera, potted geraniums and trailing vine. A sculptural white staircase curls up from the shade toward the light, tying the old ground-floor rooms to the rooftop terrace above.
Each of the six rooms was drawn by hand rather than repeated from a template. Wood-block headboards meet lamplit stone, crisp white linen and small considered touches: a pair of rolled towels, a travel chess set, a guide to Andalucía left within reach. They are made for two, and made for staying in.

In July and August, Patio del Posadero closes as a hotel and reopens as Villa Posadero — the whole house rented privately, with a small saltwater pool in the patio and doors and windows brought from Marrakech. The rest of the year, it is rooms only, one couple to each.
