H Pacific Kalokairi Rooms & prices

The road out of Tamarindo climbs into the hills, seven minutes by car, and stops at a house with two suites and a view of the Pacific. This is Pacific Kalokairi, an adults-only hotel built for two guests at a time, either in the room with the ocean or the one facing the jungle. There is a pool cut into the hillside and nothing on the schedule. For anyone who wants a few days with no one else in the frame.

Two suites only: one with a view of open Pacific water, one facing the jungle that climbs the hill behind it. Both carry a breeze off the ocean and the rustle of palm leaves across the hillside. Evenings gather at the infinity pool, cut into the hillside, where the sun goes down over the water before dinner in the small restaurant next to it. Two rooms is the whole of it, which is why neither the pool nor the restaurant table is ever a contest. The staff arrange whatever else you want — tours, restaurants, the bars in town — if you ask them.

Pacific Kalokairi sets a minimum age of 18 in its own house rules, written at pacifickalokairi.com, and read there on 11 August 2026. A house whose rule drops below eighteen, or stops naming an age, is taken off HUSH — how every house is checked.

The hillside rooms

Each bungalow stands on its own on the slope, reached by stone steps through the garden, so you rarely see another guest from your terrace. Inside, a peaked wooden ceiling lifts over the bed, glass runs from floor to roofline, and clerestory windows catch the breeze that a ceiling fan finishes off. A pair of teak loungers and a folding table sit on the private balcony, angled at the dry forest and the hills — the kind of room where you read all afternoon and lose track of time.

Pool and spa

The pool is the heart of the place: a long curved infinity edge set on the ridge, lined with loungers and a small pool bar, looking out over the treetops toward the coast. As the light goes pink the whole terrace turns to reflection. A few steps into the trees the spa keeps the same unhurried mood, with cascades and two jacuzzis — one hot, one cold — plus massages, facials and wellness treatments to rebalance a day spent doing very little.

The rooms are lovely; we took a jungle view and we were very happy about it (it really feels like a little jungle lodge!) The hotel is very small (6 rooms I think?) so it’s very quiet & peaceful, which we really...

Our tips

Sunset at the infinity pool

The pool sits cut into the hillside above the water, and the hour that matters is when the sun drops behind it — a cocktail first, then dinner in the restaurant.

Dinner under the sky

The restaurant serves Costa Rican dishes alongside dishes from further afield, each course timed to land as the sun goes down over the Pacific.

Downtown Tamarindo

Seven minutes by car down the hill is central Tamarindo, with its restaurants and bars. The hotel runs a free shuttle there at set hours during the day, and parking is free if you bring your own car. Back up the hill, the pool is still catching the last of the sun.

Book the whole house

With only two suites, the house can be booked whole for a wedding, a birthday or a small group who want the hillside to themselves — the hotel asks you to arrange it by email first.
