The promenade at Poetto runs long and flat, and Hotel Nautilus sits right on it, a few steps from the sand and from whatever else Cagliari has going on further along the front. Eleven rooms, several of them looking straight at the sea, comfortable rather than dressed up, kept to a family atmosphere by its own description. Check in from four in the afternoon, check out by eleven. For anyone who wants the beach at the door and a morning that starts with the smell of salt instead of a rush.
The rooms are comfortable and well equipped, and some look straight out over the sea — you decide, when you book, whether the view is worth it. Air conditioning and heating are both fitted, for whichever end of the year you land in, and breakfast is served facing the water, early enough that the smell of salt still hangs over the terrace. Downstairs there's a bar and a coffee shop, and a garden if you'd rather sit under a tree than a beach umbrella. Outside, the Poetto promenade runs flat and long in both directions, and the desk keeps a list of the excursions worth the day — Cagliari, the sea, whatever else is in reach.
Hotel Nautilus Excelsior sets a minimum age of 18 in its own house rules, written at booking.com, and read there on 11 August 2026. A house whose rule drops below eighteen, or stops naming an age, is taken off HUSH — how every house is checked.
The sea-view rooms look east across the marina toward the Sella del Diavolo, so the first morning light arrives over the water and settles on the bed. The most generous of them carry a hydromassage tub out on the balcony, close to the rail where you can watch the moored sailboats while the water runs warm. Inside, the dark marble and warm gold repeat, and the glass doors slide back to let the sea air move through.
Between the hotel and the promenade lies a planted garden of tall palms, agave and flowering shrubs, arranged around an outdoor pool that holds the afternoon sun. Paths of pale stone thread through the beds to a strip of lawn, and beyond the low hedge the Poetto seafront and its moored boats fill the middle distance. It is a place to sit out the warm hours before crossing the road to the beach.

Asking the house for its rooms…
Overall I would recommend it and I would visit again. Value for money is good. We had a room with balcony and it was really cute. Loved the decoration. Room was tidy and clean also. Only thing that I would say wasn't...
Breakfast was better than most restaurants at the same standard. Fresh bread and croisants, better cold cuts, better variety - and friendly staff assisting. At first I got a room without a desk for my computer, - but...
Beautiful place with great location right at the beach. Very attentive and friendly staff.

The hotel keeps its own infinity pool, angled toward the sea, for the days you'd rather not walk down to the sand. There's an open-air bath too, if a pool isn't the point and quiet is.
Breakfast is served facing the sea, and if you're down before the beach fills up, the smell in the air is still salt rather than sunscreen.
The lungomare outside runs long and flat in both directions. There's nothing to plan — pick a direction, walk until you're hungry, then turn back toward the hotel.
There's a bar on site that shows live sport, so a game on doesn't mean giving up the evening to find a screen elsewhere.
