The road into Uvita climbs past the town and doesn't stop at the tree line — it keeps rising through jungle canopy until you're twelve hundred feet above the Pacific, with the water only a rumor behind the leaves. Nature's Edge sits at the top of that climb, a cluster of casitas built into the hillside around a saltwater pool. It's adults-only, and kept deliberately small. For anyone who wants a week where the jungle does the talking, not the itinerary.

Each of the eight casitas has its own patio or balcony, and that's where your massage happens — jungle on every side instead of a treatment room. Afterward, rinse off under a private garden- or jungle-view shower before you walk down to the pool. Book an upper-ridge casita and you'll catch a partial slice of ocean through the canopy; take a lower-ridge one and it's mountain and cloud forest instead. The pool is saltwater, set at Terraza de Alma and ringed by jungle on every side, with a shared outdoor kitchen, living and dining area alongside it for anyone who'd rather cook than order in. Eight rooms is few enough that none of it — the pool, the terrace, the quiet — ever feels claimed by someone else.

Nature's Edge Boutique Hotel sets a minimum age of 18 in its own house rules, written at naturesedgecabinas.com, and read there on 11 August 2026. A house whose rule drops below eighteen, or stops naming an age, is taken off HUSH — how every house is checked.

On the jungle ridge

The four casitas are strung along a single mountain ridge, red roofs half-swallowed by the canopy, each raised on its own terrace above the steep drop. Palms and heliconia crowd the paths between them, and howler monkeys, toucans and hummingbirds move through the trees at the edge of the deck. It is a quiet, folded landscape, and the house is built to sit lightly inside it rather than clear it away.

The pool at dusk

At the centre of the property a small pool sits beside Terraza de Alma, the open-air pavilion where the day gathers. Loungers and umbrellas line the deck, an outdoor kitchen and long wooden tables stand under the roof, and the whole terrace opens straight onto the forest. Breakfast is served here in the morning; by dusk the pool glows blue and the jungle turns to silhouette against the sky.

The owners just opened up these awesome Cabinas and I have to say after 6 weeks of Central America traveling they were the nicest and most relaxing mountain top view accommodations I had. Very well thought out...

This was the highlight of our Costa Rica stay. We so enjoyed our time here. Next time I'll stay 48 days! Don't try to get up the hill with a 2 wheel drive (and don't forget to press the button to engage 4WD). Its not...

Our tips

The Massage on Your Balcony

The massage table goes onto your own casita's patio or balcony, jungle on every side instead of a treatment room. Afterward there's a private garden- or jungle-view shower, then the walk down to the saltwater pool at Terraza de Alma to finish what the massage started.

An Early Breakfast to Go

There's no restaurant on site, just breakfast made for you each morning. If you're heading out before it's served, say so the night before and they'll pack it light enough to eat on the trail.

Manuel Antonio and Corcovado

Manuel Antonio National Park is a little over an hour's drive north; Corcovado National Park is two and a half hours away by boat to the south. Both are long enough days that you'll want the pool waiting when you're back.

Come for the Green Season

Costa Rica's rainy season runs May through November, and it's the one locals rate higher than the dry months from December through April — the rain is what keeps the jungle around Nature's Edge this thick. Dry season brings more company and higher prices; green season brings the canopy at its fullest.
