H Loft Ahangama Rooms & prices

On Ahangama's Main Street, ten seconds from the waves, a door opens between the town's cafés and surf shops onto seven rooms with big windows over the beach break below. Loft Ahangama takes no guests under eighteen, and it makes no claim to sitting on the sand — the sand is simply across the road. For two people who would rather walk to dinner than drive to it, and watch the swell without leaving the building.

Rooms are small and plain by design: seven of them, from an 18-square-metre single up to a 54-square-metre corner, so the building never fills into a crowd. Good beds, black fittings in the bathroom, and windows that give over most of the wall to the street below — the same street with the surf break at the end of it. No frills, no polish beyond what a bed and a shower need, just rooms built to feel like home. Up on the roof, mornings start with yoga as the light comes up over the break, and evenings end there too, once the day's stories need telling. Madu runs the place and knows which break is working before you've asked.

Loft Ahangama sets a minimum age of 18 in its own house rules, read on 11 August 2026. A house whose rule drops below eighteen, or stops naming an age, is taken off HUSH — how every house is checked.

The seven rooms

Every room is finished by hand in microcement, a soft pale plaster that runs from the walls into the built-in shelves and up over the tub surrounds. King beds wear crisp white linen, rain showers sit behind glass, and black taps and switches punctuate the calm. No two rooms share a layout: The Grand Loft is the anchor at fifty-four square metres, with the property's only bathtub and a balcony wide enough to live on, while the smaller rooms trade floor space for height, light and quiet.

Up on the roof

Above the building, a flat rooftop opens to the sea air and the sound of the break a street away. It is the house's shared vantage point, somewhere to carry a coffee at first light, stretch out through the hot middle of the day, or watch the sky change colour as the surfers come in. Downstairs, an airy common room and a garden-side lounge give the small hotel the feel of a well-kept home rather than a front desk and a corridor.

Our tips

Sunrise yoga on the roof

The rooftop is open to every guest, not just the top rooms — climb up for yoga as the light comes over the break, or come back at sunset when the day gets talked through over a drink. A regular cocktail hour is planned for up there too, though it wasn't running yet as of the site's own account.

Ceylon Sliders, across the road

Loft sits directly opposite Ceylon Sliders, close enough that shoes are optional. Cactus and La Mana are each thirty seconds on foot the other way, so a night out here rarely means calling a tuk tuk.

The break, ten seconds out

The hotel isn't on the beachfront, but the water is a ten-second walk from the front door, and the big windows in the rooms look straight over the break and the town. Check the swell from bed before deciding whether to bother getting up.

Pick a room by size

The seven rooms run from an 18-square-metre single up to a 54-square-metre corner room, each built for a different kind of stay. Worth choosing by square metres rather than by price, if the room is where you'll spend the slow hours.
