H La Isla y el Mar, Hotel Boutique Rooms & prices

Above Puerto del Carmen, where the last streets of the promenade give way to open ground facing the Atlantic, a raised terrace holds eleven suites and the sea in equal measure. The road in is a short climb from the old town, no more than a few minutes on foot or by car. La Isla y el Mar takes no guests under eighteen, and each suite opens onto its own strip of ocean — some with a private pool, some with a jacuzzi on the terrace. For anyone who wants the horizon to be the first thing they see, and the last.

Eleven suites, open-plan, each built around a window that faces the water — a small enough number that the heated pool below, with its waterfall corner, rarely feels claimed by anyone else. The building runs bioclimatically, geothermal climate control standing in for forced air conditioning, walls angled to hold the Atlantic light without the heat; glass replaces much of the fourth wall, so the horizon fills the room by day and the dark by night. One suite is a loft where tropical planting has been let inside, greening the corners of the sitting room, the bed running 200 centimetres corner to corner. Sea to one side, Fuerteventura's outline to the other on a clear day.

La Isla y el Mar, Hotel Boutique sets a minimum age of 18 in its own house rules, written at aylanz.com, and read there on 11 August 2026. A house whose rule drops below eighteen, or stops naming an age, is taken off HUSH — how every house is checked.

The loft suites

The largest suites are conceived as open lofts, where a block of lava rock frames the washbasin and living greenery climbs the interior walls beneath the skylights. Daylight falls onto polished stone floors, and a separate sitting area lets rest, conversation and pause each keep their own rhythm. Terraces open to the sky, several with a private jacuzzi set into the deck.

Facing the Atlantic

From its raised position the hotel looks straight out to sea, and the best suites carry that view indoors through full-height glass. Palms lean over the terraces, the pool sits on the level below with the water beyond it, and the horizon does most of the decorating. Mornings begin with the Atlantic already in the room, and evenings close with the light going soft over the same line of water.

All good, staff great and hotel very stylish. Maybe a board to say what was going on everyday would help planning.

Amazing place to stay. Loved every minute. Well run. Spotless. Great location. Close to the old town. Would be great if the hotel had a car park but we found a space to park on the road, as it was off season. We will...

Our tips

The suite with the private pool

One of the terrace suites lets the pool run straight off the room — open-plan glass onto a strip of Atlantic-facing terrace where the water sits at floor level. The solarium and outdoor jacuzzi in the four-person suite are open at any hour, which mostly means whenever you say so.

Dinner at Kentia Gourmet Club

The hotel's à la carte restaurant is open to outside visitors too, so it never feels entirely private, but the terrace tables are yours for as long as you're staying. Half board here covers breakfast — part buffet, part cooked to order — and dinner; the rest of the day is left alone.

Puerto del Carmen promenade

The old town is about 400 metres down the hill, close enough to walk for a coffee or the shops without needing the car. The hotel's own parking is free if you'd rather drive down and come back to it.

The heated pool in winter

The pool below the terraces runs heated with a waterfall corner and a hydromassage seat, built to be used through the cooler months rather than just in July and August — worth the walk down even when the wind is up.
