In Palm Springs, the desert light arrives sideways, through glass walls that turn every bedroom into something meant to be looked through, not just lived in. L'Horizon's twenty-eight bungalows sit low behind slump stone walls that run from inside the bedroom straight out past the glass, mountains on one side, a zero edge pool on the other. It takes no guests under twenty-one. For anyone who wants a week with nothing scheduled but sun, water and a patio of their own.

Every bungalow works from the same three materials: slump stone walls, oiled wood in the post-and-beam ceilings, and glass — full walls of it, floor to ceiling, so the desert outside never quite stays outside. Standard rooms add wide plank flooring, Italian furniture, Chevron curtains and Frette linens; the marble bathrooms are small enough to feel private, large enough to matter. Twenty-eight rooms in total, which is why the two pools rarely feel like they belong to anyone but you. One room turns its bathroom glass toward a terrarium of cacti instead of a view of the next bungalow. The Premiere Junior Suite and the Fireplace suite go further still, with private outdoor showers open to the desert sky.

L'Horizon Resort & Spa, Hermann Bungalows - Adults Only 21 and Older sets a minimum age of 21 in its own house rules, read on 24 August 2026. A house whose rule drops below eighteen, or stops naming an age, is taken off HUSH — how every house is checked.

The stay had its ups and downs. The room key reader was in need of attention as we had to change room keys at least six times. The hotel should have addressed this after the second request. We had to ask for the...

We stayed a few days directly after having our wedding at another Palm Springs hotel nearby, and definitely needed an emotional break after finally having our (wonderful) big day. The place is designed to be so...

Great service and Palm Springs vibe of 1960s but updated to 2020.

Our tips

The Fireplace suite

Marilyn Monroe kept this bungalow in the 1950s, when it belonged to the Wrather family home next door. It still has the copper-clad wood-burning fireplace for cold desert nights, a private outdoor shower, and a patio a few steps from the zero edge pool.

The Residence

The original home of Hollywood producer Jack Wrather, designed by William F. Cody, is now bookable as a one or two-bedroom house with its own pool, yard and mountain views. Call the hotel directly if you want the second bedroom as well.

An outdoor shower under stars

The Premiere Junior Suite has both an indoor shower and a private outdoor one, so you can wash off the day under the desert sky instead of a ceiling. The sitting area opens onto its own patio for afterward.

Breakfast in your room

There's no need to leave the bungalow for the first coffee: breakfast comes to the room, and the resort will also bring in groceries or a delivered meal, still sealed, whenever you'd rather eat in than dress for it.
