Main Street in Lee, Massachusetts runs past clapboard shopfronts and, near the edge of town, an 1800s parochial school still stands behind its own blackboards, its thirteen-foot tin ceilings and eight-foot windows intact. That building is the Chambery Inn now, family-run since 1990 and taking no guests under eighteen. For two people who want breakfast left at the door and nothing scheduled before noon.
Each room keeps a piece of the old schoolhouse — a slate blackboard on the wall, eight-foot windows, thirteen-foot tin ceilings pressed into pattern overhead. Under that sit French-inspired rooms with canopied beds, gas fireplaces lit for the end of a day on the slopes, and private baths built around a jetted tub. Eleven rooms only, which is why breakfast comes to you on a tray instead of a shared table downstairs. The basket carries milk from High Lawn Farm, under a mile off, and scones baked in-house from ingredients picked up at Lee's Premium Outlets. Main Street sits at the door, so dinner is a walk, not a drive.
Chambery Inn sets a minimum age of 18 in its own house rules, read on 24 August 2026. A house whose rule drops below eighteen, or stops naming an age, is taken off HUSH — how every house is checked.

Asking the house for its rooms…
Such a great experience. The inn was cozy and inviting and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful, the bed was comfy, and everything was clean. Would definitely recommend.
Everything ! What a historical site to stay. Unreal that this huge structure was moved to its current location. Only thing that could have made our stay more special would have been to stay longer. We were passing...
Quiet, beautiful place in downtown Lee. The place is very clean, traditionally decorated, and feels like mom's. The staff are wonderful and friendly. Filtered water are provided (not bottled). Highly recommended.

The house lists these as things to do from here. Where a line is marked off-site it is not on the property — a dive site, a trail, a stable. That mark is ours, not theirs.
Ask for the FireSpa suite and you get a jetted tub built for two, under a smoky mirrored surround, plus terrycloth robes and a heated towel bar. A king bed and a 70-inch screen fill out the room, but the gas fireplace is what you light first.
The morning basket is fixed-menu and delivered to your door at whatever hour you name — muffins, scones, quiche, granola. The milk is from High Lawn Farm, under a mile away, and the maple-cinnamon scones are baked in-house from ingredients sourced at Lee's Premium Outlets.
The inn sits closest to Massachusetts' largest state forest, with hiking, biking and kayaking a quick walk or drive from Main Street. Go for the afternoon and come back to a fire already lit in the room.
Restaurants and shops line Main Street within walking distance of the door — one of the few inns in Lee where you don't need the car after check-in.
