Eighty metres of pavement separate the sand at Playa del Cura from the gate of Idyll Suites, past a supermarket, a pharmacy, the taxi stand. Two lifts take you up from there to one of the forty-nine suites, each with an 18-square-metre terrace and nothing but sea between you and the horizon. It takes no guests under eighteen. For anyone who wants mornings with nowhere to be until the bread comes out of the oven.
Mediterranean-style suites here are built to breathe rather than to be cooled: natural ventilation keeps the air moving through 70 square metres of tiled floor and mercerised cotton, and the terrace doors mostly stay open. Every one of the forty-nine suites faces the water, so the view is never a question of which room you get, only which sunbed. Bed linen runs 300-thread-count cotton, the pillows come by menu, and the bathroom mirror is the magnifying kind. This is an adults-only address, seven separate buildings around a shared infinity pool, close enough to hear the pool bar taking snack orders and far enough that you don't have to answer them.

Spread across seven separate buildings for privacy, the suites are made to be lived in slowly. Each has its own kitchenette and a terrace of eighteen square metres set with sunbeds, a table and chairs beneath a retractable awning, every one of them angled at the ocean. Mornings begin with the light coming off the water and a coffee made in your own kitchen.
Restaurant Delicias serves breakfast, lunch and dinner on a covered terrace hung with ferns and glass lanterns, its open sides looking out over the bay as the town lights come on. The kitchen works with local and seasonal produce, and dinner here, at candlelit tables with the sea somewhere below in the dark, is the easy centre of the evening.
