Outside Sóller, on a 120,000-square-metre estate the Morell family has held since 1723, four old houses that once sheltered orchard workers still stand across the land — Ca N'Aí, Son Sales, Can Nusa and Binidorm. Domingo Morell converted the estate into Mallorca's first rural hotel twenty-nine years ago, restoring the houses rather than replacing them. It is adults-only, kept for anyone who wants a week with nothing scheduled and a view of the valley instead of a plan for the day.

Terraces come with every room, looking out over palm trees and orchard land the family has irrigated since 1723 using the same waterwheel that now props up the pool bar. Breakfast is fresh orange juice, fruit off the trees, jams, cold meats and cheeses, with eggs cooked to order — the kitchen works from seasonal, KM-0 produce, and the same cooks turn out tapas and Mallorcan plates through the day. Nine rooms are spread thin enough across the four houses that the pool, ringed in palm trees with its Balinese-bed grandstand, rarely feels shared. Domingo Morell has spent nearly three decades restoring the finca house by house, keeping its Mallorcan build intact.

Finca Ca N'Aí Bio Retreat sets a minimum age of 18 in its own house rules, read on 11 August 2026. A house whose rule drops below eighteen, or stops naming an age, is taken off HUSH — how every house is checked.

The junior suites

Spread over the main house and four smaller buildings, the suites range from thirty-four to nearly seventy square metres, each with a character drawn from the old finca — exposed beams, terracotta underfoot, a painted wisteria climbing one wall, an antique carved armoire. Rooms are dressed in cotton and calm colours, with a sitting area, minibar and a large bed; the higher categories add a lounge, a private terrace or a quiet courtyard of their own.

Painted by hand

Everywhere the estate wears its history lightly. Ceramic tiles set into the walls are painted by hand with folk motifs, plants and dates — one records a royal visit in August 1990 — and indoors the same care shows in botanical murals and salvaged antiques. It is the work of a family that has kept the finca alive for three hundred years, and of an owner and team who tend the gardens, the century-old lime tree in the courtyard and the orchards that still wrap around the rooms.

Our tips

The waterwheel bar

The estate's old waterwheel once lifted water to the orange and citrus groves; it's still standing, and the pool bar now rests right against it. Take the grandstand of Balinese beds above the water for the wider view — estate and valley both, palm trees in the foreground.

Breakfast off the trees

Orange juice is squeezed to order and the fruit comes from the estate's own trees, alongside jams, cold meats, cheeses and eggs cooked as you wait. Lunch and events run from the same kitchen, working from seasonal, KM-0 produce, by reservation only.

Into the Tramuntana

Ca N'Aí sits at a natural starting point for the Tramuntana mountain range, with hiking and cycling routes running straight from the estate and horses, boats and dive gear arranged on site. Come back to the pool and the waterwheel bar after.

The terrace over your room

Every room opens onto its own terrace, in one of the four original houses — Ca N'Aí, Son Sales, Can Nusa or Binidorm — that the Morell family has kept working since 1723, restored rather than replaced.
