H Encís d'Empordà Rooms & prices

The road into Casavells runs past stone masías before it reaches this one, its old stone walls kept, its windows opened wider for the light. Inside is a loft split by a staircase into two levels: a kitchen and a hearth below, a bedroom above, ninety square metres in all. This is Encís d'Empordà, kept for adults only, with a garden and a shared pool through the door. For two people who want a week with nothing on the calendar but the pool and a fire at dusk.

Inside, the stone is left bare and the floors plain, so the tall windows do most of the work of lighting the place. Downstairs is one room carrying three jobs — kitchen with an american-style bar, a dining table, a fireplace — and a private bathroom besides. A staircase climbs to a bedroom with a bed built wide, 1.80 by 2 metres, and a small studio beside it. There is no cleaning service during the stay and no breakfast included, so the two of you set the pace, cooking in a kitchen stocked with everything from a dishwasher to a juicer. The house holds sixteen rooms in all, which is why the shared pool outside rarely draws a crowd.

Encís d'Empordà sets a minimum age of 18 in its own house rules, written at hotelruralencisdemporda.com, and read there on 11 August 2026. A house whose rule drops below eighteen, or stops naming an age, is taken off HUSH — how every house is checked.

The old masía

The house is a working farmhouse grown old with grace, its stone flank buried under a curtain of ivy that turns from green to copper with the seasons. A broad lawn runs along its foot, edged with potted oleander and cypress, and the medieval lanes of Casavells begin just beyond the wall. Mornings here smell of cut grass and warm stone; evenings belong to the swifts turning over the rooftops and the plain going gold.

Colour and fire

No two rooms are alike. One is deep oxblood beneath a ceiling painted like a canopy of leaves; another glows ochre in the afternoon; all of them mix flea-market antiques with crisp linen and a fireplace laid ready for cooler nights. Terracotta tiles run underfoot, arched windows frame the Empordà plain, and a claw-foot tub often waits in a corner for a long soak after a day on the back roads.

This hotel has wonderful food, fantastic rooms, beautiful views and the best staff. It is extremely romantic and I can't wait to return.

The hotel is 4or 5 kms from Corca and there are few restaurants close. It is a lovely restoration in a quaint village Don't go to restaurant Raku ! Poor service and ordinary food.

Wonderful hotel and lovely quiet location - write up said there was a restaurant- there wasn't- but we were recommended a great tapas bar - only trouble - someone had to drive...Breakfast was delicious though!

No hay parking, hay que dejarlo en el pueblo, fuera del hotel. El hotel está muy cuidado, aunque no hay ascensor y el baño está algo viejo. La atención es buena y el desayuno no está mal.

Our tips

The fireplace and the kitchen

The loft's kitchen comes stocked for two — oven, dishwasher, a Dolce Gusto machine, a juicer — and there's no cleaning service or breakfast built into the stay, so the fireplace gets lit and dinner gets cooked on your own schedule, not the house's.

Cala del Golfet

South of Calella de Palafrugell, this cove is split by a central rock and has no services, no crowds — wild nature, by the site's own description. Go for the quiet of it, and come back to the pool and a door that shuts.

Golf near Gualta and Platja d'Aro

Empordà Golf in Gualta, Club Golf d'Aro in Platja d'Aro and Golf Girona in Sant Julià de Ramis are all within reach. Baix Empordà's winters average twelve degrees and its autumns eighteen, mild enough that most of the region's courses stay open all year.

Walk a camí de ronda

The coastal path along this stretch of the Costa Brava keeps pine on one side and the sea on the other, part of a signposted network that runs to 370 kilometres across the Baix Empordà. Walk as much of it as you like, then come back to the loft and a fire not yet lit.
