Ten minutes on foot from Palma's seafront promenade and the castle at Bellver, the residential lanes quiet down into gardens. Hotel Araxa stands here, a protected mid-century building by Catalan architect Francesc Mitjans. The house is adults-only and turns away party bookings. It is kept for two people who want city streets by day and an unhurried corner with a book by four.

The rooms open onto private balconies that catch the garden or the pool, with desks, plain walls, and morning light through the glass. Downstairs, the bar lounge has a fireplace for reading when the sun dips, and the spa holds Finnish and infrared saunas alongside an ice cave and steam bath. Between April and October, days settle around the outdoor pool and the solarium loungers on the grass. Breakfast is laid out on the terrace in the summer months from half past seven, with local Balearic dishes before the city heats up. In the kitchen, chef Sebastià Reus prepares the midday paellas that Palma locals know him for.

Hotel Araxa - Adults Only sets a minimum age of 18 in its own house rules, read on 11 August 2026. A house whose rule drops below eighteen, or stops naming an age, is taken off HUSH — how every house is checked.

In the garden

Vines climb the pergola over the terrace, where white ironwork tables are laid beneath striped awnings among pots of geraniums and hibiscus. Breakfast is served al fresco through the warm months, and the evening turns on the kitchen's Mediterranean cooking. The chef, Sebastia Reus, is known across Palma for his paella, eaten slowly with a glass of wine as the garden lamps come on.

Rooms and balconies

Upstairs the rooms are calm and uncluttered, dressed in soft golds and whites with a round mirror, a writing desk and a flat-screen television. The best of them open through glazed doors onto a private balcony above the garden or the pool, where the shade of the surrounding trees keeps the city at a distance and the mornings unhurried.

The noise outside can be easily heard inside the room. You can hear people chatting at the hallways in the middle of the night.

Our tips

Paella by Sebastià Reus

Sit down for lunch between one and quarter to four, when the kitchen serves the regional paellas prepared by chef Sebastià Reus using local island produce.

Summer mornings on the terrace

Take breakfast outside between half past seven and half past ten during the summer months, with Balearic specialties before the sun climbs over the garden.

Ten minutes to Bellver Castle

Walk ten minutes up to Bellver Castle, then head back through the quiet streets to the pool loungers.

The fire in the bar lounge

When the evening cools down, take a book to the armchair beside the fireplace in the bar lounge, open until midnight.
