H Yggdrasil Farmhotel Retreat, Spa & Yoga Rooms & prices

The road to Yggdrasil Farmhotel runs well outside Straumsbukta, past the last houses, to eighteen rooms set around a garden. This is a farmhotel in Norway with a hot tub, an open-air bath and an outdoor fireplace, and it takes no guests under eighteen. For anyone who wants a week with nothing scheduled but a walk, a rod and a packed lunch.

Eighteen rooms sit around a garden, which is enough to keep the hot tub and the open-air bath from ever feeling crowded. The day outside is built from a short list: a trail for hiking, a rod for fishing, a bike for cycling, and a packed lunch if you would rather not come back for food. Evenings can gather at the outdoor fireplace or the bar, or go nowhere in particular. There is a coffee shop on site for slow mornings, and the front desk runs around the clock, so an odd arrival time is still expected.

Yggdrasil Farmhotel Retreat, Spa & Yoga sets a minimum age of 18 in its own house rules, read on 11 August 2026. A house whose rule drops below eighteen, or stops naming an age, is taken off HUSH — how every house is checked.

The farm table

Meals here begin on the farm and end at a long wooden table set against the fjord. The kitchen cooks homemade Norwegian food from its own produce and its northern larder — cured meats and blue cheese laid on slate, oven-baked Viking lamb that has grazed the mountains all its life, wild stew of moose and reindeer, cloudberry ice for after. It is the morning, though, that guests remember most: home-baked bread still warm, and small bowls of yogurt, chia and porridge under berries and granola. Dinner is served at seven and ordered ahead, so it can be cooked slowly and without hurry.

Sea, sauna and stillness

Wellness at Yggdrasiltunet is elemental rather than clinical. A wood-fired sauna glows down by the water, run as a booked session and paired with a bracing dip straight off the jetty; a barrel sauna and an outdoor hot tub look out over the sound; and indoors a still, window-wrapped room holds mats and bolster cushions for unguided yoga and meditation. Book the sea sauna for late afternoon and let the heat, the cold water and the long Arctic light do the rest — this is a house that treats doing very little as the point of the visit.

We really enjoyed our 2-day stay- wish we had spent a 3rd night instead of heading back to Tromso for the rest of our vacation. The farm is not large. It is up off the road and has a great views. It is a great spot...

Our tips

The open-air bath and hot tub

Both sit outside the rooms, so the last hour of the day happens under open sky rather than indoors.

Packed lunches for the trail

The kitchen packs a lunch for hiking or fishing days, so a walk out from the farmhotel doesn't have to turn back for food. Take the bike instead, if the day calls for wheels rather than boots.

The outdoor fireplace

Evenings gather here, apart from the bar and the eighteen rooms, when the day's plans are already done.

Coffee before deciding the day

There's a coffee shop on site, for the slow half hour before hiking, fishing or cycling gets decided.
