H The Sidings Inverurie Rooms & prices

In the middle of Inverurie, on the footprint of the old Great North of Scotland Railway works, workshop brick has been taken down and rebuilt block by block into four rooms, one of them built for easier access, with a shared kitchen at the end of the hall. The Sidings takes no guests under eighteen, and the train station is six minutes on foot from the door. For anyone who wants a plain, quiet base near the tracks rather than a spectacle: somewhere to drop a bag, make toast at midnight, and be gone again by nine.

Fluffy towels and a heated rail wait in each small en suite, a Hypnos mattress under plain bedding, a fitted desk in the corner for anyone here to work rather than sightsee. There is no restaurant -- instead a shared kitchen down the hall, seating for twenty, with a hob, a dishwasher and a commercial toaster for whoever is up first. Continental breakfast is laid out there every morning, and it is included. Four rooms is the whole of it, which is why the lounge's two sofas and the Freeview screen are rarely both taken at once. The building itself is what you notice first: brick from the old locomotive works, taken down and rebuilt block by block when the site was redeveloped.

The Sidings Inverurie sets a minimum age of 18 in its own house rules, read on 25 August 2026. A house whose rule drops below eighteen, or stops naming an age, is taken off HUSH — how every house is checked.

Our tips

The kitchen after nine

The shared kitchen seats twenty and has a hob, an oven, a dishwasher and a commercial toaster, so a late toast or a hot chocolate before bed does not mean hunting for an open door. Continental breakfast is laid out here every morning and it is included.

The Works Café next door

The Works Café sits right against the building and opens six days a week, ten until four -- a coffee before the six-minute walk to the station, or a lunch that needs no car.

Two supermarkets on the step

Both major supermarkets sit next door, so a top-up shop for the kitchen is a few steps rather than a drive. Back in the room, the towel rail is already warm and the mattress is a Hypnos.

Bus 37 to Aberdeen

The number 37 stops under a minute from the door and runs straight into Aberdeen city centre and to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary -- close enough for a day out and back before the kitchen empties for the night. Flying instead, the airport is twenty minutes by car.
