H The Renishaw Rooms & prices

In north-east Derbyshire, past the estate woodlands and down the drive to a hall raised in 1625, The Renishaw stands among Italianate terraces and deep green lawns. It is an adults-only stay of just four rooms beside the historic estate. For two travellers who want unhurried days wandering formal gardens, an afternoon by the lake, and nights with nowhere else you have to be.

Stone walls built under George Sitwell in 1625 anchor the grounds, looking out across formal garden lines laid between 1886 and 1936. The view from the windows takes in classical Italianate terraces, exotic plantings, and the lake in the trees. With only four rooms, you share the grounds with few others once day visitors leave, leaving the woodland paths and the rose garden to the two of you. The site is entirely cashless, so there is no fumbling for change when you step out for a morning coffee. Alexandra Sitwell and her family care for the hall today, working alongside gardeners whose families have tended these borders for generations.

The Renishaw sets a minimum age of 18 in its own house rules, read on 24 August 2026. A house whose rule drops below eighteen, or stops naming an age, is taken off HUSH — how every house is checked.
