On the west coast of Koh Lanta, a stretch of soft gold sand runs behind a line of pine trees, the sea a short walk from every room. At the end of the shaded path stands Layana Resort & Spa, which takes no guests under eighteen. Eleven rooms are scattered through the greenery, each with a balcony facing either the water or the hills behind it. For anyone who wants a week where the biggest decision is which of two pools to lie beside.
Inside, rooms keep to plain materials against the tropical planting: pale walls, dark timber, a day bed by the window and a balcony that catches whichever view the room was given, sea on one side, forested hills on the other. The bathrooms carry the one flourish the resort allows itself, a sunken bath set apart from the shower, with tea and coffee left out for whenever you wake. At night the only sound reaching the room is the whisper of waves breaking on the sand. Two pools run out toward the tree line, and by evening the loungers empty toward the beach for a cocktail as the sun goes down over the water.
Layana Resort & Spa sets a minimum age of 18 in its own house rules, written at layanaresort.com, and read there on 11 August 2026. A house whose rule drops below eighteen, or stops naming an age, is taken off HUSH — how every house is checked.
Closest to the water, the beach villas frame the Andaman through full-height glass, a bamboo tray ceiling and a palette of sea blues overhead. Step through the sliding doors and the lawn runs straight to the sand, so the horizon is the first thing you see in the morning and the last at night. Inside, a marble bathroom, a writing desk and a deep sofa make it easy to let a day go by without leaving.
The award-winning Linger Longer Spa is the still heart of the resort, with six air-conditioned treatment rooms and two open-air foot-massage salas set among the trees. A salt spa, a sauna and a hydro-massage pool sit alongside a long menu of massage, scrubs and facials, and the therapists work an unhurried blend of Thai and Western technique. Sessions can begin with a sound-bowl ritual, the resonance settling the mind before hands ever touch skin.

The house lists these as things to do from here. Where a line is marked off-site it is not on the property — a dive site, a trail, a stable. That mark is ours, not theirs.
The Deluxe Pavilion rooms sit on the first floor, forty-nine square metres with a day bed and a private balcony over the garden. Ask for one for the bathroom alone: a sunken bath set apart from the shower.
The restaurants serve global cuisine outdoors by the water, and evenings open with a sundowner as the sun goes down into the sea. Breakfast can be taken in the room instead, on the balcony, rather than at a table under the pines.
The spa is called Linger Longer, and sits beside the resort's fitness facilities and locker rooms. Book a treatment for the afternoon and there is no reason to hurry back to anything after.
Some of the Grand and Suite rooms on the lower floor open straight onto the Wellness Pool, so a swim is a few steps rather than a stroll through the garden. Everywhere else, the sea itself is only a few paces past the sand.
