Srithanu's lanes run past yoga shalas and healing centres before they narrow into garden, and it's there — near enough to walk everywhere, far enough to hear only the jungle — that Coconut Bay Eco Resort keeps its chalets, wound around a koi pond thick with lily water and Thai statues. Each one is handbuilt in bamboo, private, and adults-only. For anyone who wants a week where nothing is scheduled but the sunset.

Inside, the chalets are bamboo through and through — high ceilings, big windows that pull the garden in, a private balcony strung with a hammock. The Pond-Side chalets wake to filtered light over the koi pond from their own terrace; the Bamboo Suite keeps its bathroom open, bamboo-walled, stocked with THANN toiletries instead of anything plastic. There is a mini-fridge, a tea station, a safe for what you'd rather not carry to the beach. Nine chalets in total, which is why every guest here is known by name, not room number. The zero-single-use-plastic rule runs through everything: glass and reusable alternatives, rainwater on the gardens, kitchen waste back into the soil.

Coconut Bay Eco Resort sets a minimum age of 18 in its own house rules, written at coconutbayresorts.com, and read there on 11 August 2026. A house whose rule drops below eighteen, or stops naming an age, is taken off HUSH — how every house is checked.

The bamboo chalets

Only nine chalets stand in the garden, each crafted from bamboo and dark wood with a soft, low-lit calm. High ceilings and broad windows pull in the light, a Buddha and a painted Thai headboard mark the wall, and the ensuite is finished in polished concrete behind a sliding bamboo screen. Every guest, the house likes to say, is known by name.

The koi pond

At the heart of the resort a koi pond sits ringed by sand paths, banana palms and heliconia, with a wooden bench set where the water catches the last of the jungle light. The gardens are tended by hand and kept chemical-light, and at dusk the lit chalets throw their long reflections across the surface of the water.

Our tips

The Tropical Garden Chalet

Ask for this one and the private balcony comes with its own hammock, framed by greenery, under bamboo ceilings high enough to hold the light. The bathroom keeps to the same rule as the rest of the resort: THANN toiletries, no single-use plastic anywhere.

Pure Vegan Heaven, on foot

Eight to ten minutes' walk gets you to Pure Vegan Heaven for vegan and international plates, or turn off eight minutes in for Eat.Co's vegan café instead. Both are close enough to visit on a whim and walk back to the koi pond after.

Sunset at Zen Beach

Fifteen minutes on foot is Zen Beach, where the island's sunset yoga and drum circles happen most evenings, open to anyone walking past, not just guests staying there. Walk back after to a garden where the only sound is the jungle again.

The island's other calendar

Haad Rin's Full Moon Party draws the crowds each month, but Srithanu keeps a quieter one: wellness festivals and beach clean-ups through the year, Songkran's water festival in April, Loy Krathong's floating lanterns in November. All of it reachable without leaving the island's spiritual heart, where the resort already sits.
