H La Fortuna Lodge Rooms & prices

La Fortuna Lodge stands three blocks from the central park of a small Costa Rican town, in the green lowlands where the Arenal volcano lifts its near-perfect cone above the treeline. It is an adults-only house of a handful of rooms, quiet and unhurried, made for couples who want the rainforest at the door and no one else's timetable to keep.

The rooms are simple and warm, with dark wood beds, teal and cream walls, rattan pendants and a ceiling fan turning slowly overhead, and each one holds two. The Premium categories open onto private balconies and internal gardens; the best of them frame the volcano itself.

La Fortuna Lodge sets a minimum age of 18 in its own house rules, read on 11 August 2026. A house whose rule drops below eighteen, or stops naming an age, is taken off HUSH — how every house is checked.

The volcano rooms

The Premium category looks straight at Arenal. Sliding doors give onto a private balcony where two chairs and a courtesy coffee maker wait for the morning, and the cone stands over the rooftops of the town, catching the first light while the rest of the room stays cool and dim. It is a view you can lie in bed and watch.

The upstairs terrace

Above the street runs a long covered terrace the width of the house, with deep sofas, potted greenery and filament lights strung under the eaves. It is where the day begins over coffee and ends with the sound of the town settling, the volcano a dark shape against the last of the sky. Nothing here asks you to hurry.

The hotel and staff were lovely and very helpful. The hotel is in a super central location so you can easily walk anywhere, but it’s set back 2 streets from the Main Street meaning you have peace and quiet at night....

La Fortuna lodge is perfectly located, close to really good restaurants. From the shared terrace we had a fantastic view of the Arenal Volcano. Every morning we had a delicious breakfast and everything was...

Great view of Arenal! Also close to town but not too close to be noisy.

Our tips

Soak in the Arenal hot springs

The volcano feeds a string of thermal rivers a short drive west along Route 142. Tabacon and the quieter EcoTermales let you sink into warm water under the rainforest canopy, ten to fifteen minutes from the lodge.

Stroll to the central park

The lodge sits three blocks from La Fortuna's Parque Central, with its white-towered church, sodas and tour desks all within a few minutes on foot. It is the easiest evening walk for dinner and a look at local life.

Hike to La Fortuna Waterfall

About six kilometres south, the Catarata Rio Fortuna drops through the jungle to a swimming pool at its base. Around five hundred steps take you down and back, best done in the cool of the morning.

Cross the Mistico hanging bridges

The front desk arranges the Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges, roughly twenty minutes away, where suspension walkways carry you through the forest canopy for sloths, toucans and volcano views. Horseback rides to the foothills can be booked the same way.
