Hand-picked places to stay where the house's own rules set a minimum age of 18. Every rule read, and read again.

About HUSH

The search for a different kind of calm

Rice terraces in the morning light

We didn’t set out to build a travel directory. We just wanted to sit in a sauna without someone playing tag in sweatpants.

HUSH is a hand-vetted collection of genuinely adults-only hotels and stays — built by two people in Prague, created for travellers who care about quiet, thoughtful spaces, and verified down to the house rules.

How a ruined spa trip started this

My fiancée and I travel for a specific atmosphere. Sometimes that means a quiet weekend in the mountains; sometimes it’s surfing and exploring in Southeast Asia. Either way, when we book a boutique hotel with a spa or a cocktail bar, we look for an environment designed entirely for adults.

We love children, but we’ve all experienced the alternative: booking a “wellness sanctuary” only to find kids doing cannonballs into the whirlpool, running through the steam room, or screaming in the relaxation lounge while parents look the other way.

Finding places that are truly adults-only turned out to be shockingly frustrating. On big booking platforms, the “Adults Only” checkbox often just means an unaccompanied minor can’t book a room alone — it doesn’t stop families from checking in. Many websites claim to be adults only on their front page, but buried deep in their terms is a clause allowing children in certain wings or outside peak hours.

So we started keeping our own private notes.

Who is behind HUSH

Max Hoek · Founder

By day, I work as a 3D artist in the video game industry, creating virtual worlds from my home desk in Prague. Nothing in my day job explains why I spend late evenings dissecting hotel terms of service — except that I care obsessively about details and getting things right.

When I’m not working on 3D environments or verifying hotel policies, I’ve probably been on a tennis court since I was three years old (which explains why “Tennis court” is an actual filter on this site).

My fiancée and I build HUSH in our evenings. What began as a personal shortlist shared with friends gradually turned into this platform.

The hotels that set our standard

Two stays completely redefined what travel feels like for us:

  • Rascals Hotel (Lombok, Indonesia): our first adults-only stay. It nailed a rare balance: great drinks, amazing food, social energy by the pool, and genuine privacy.
  • Badia Hill (Dolomites, Italy): exceptional food, stunning architecture, dog-friendly, and a rooftop spa where silence actually means silence.

What “hand-checked” actually means

We don’t rely on automated tags. We use trusted travel data infrastructure to discover properties, but every single listing on HUSH is checked by hand:

  • We read the house rules. We trace policies directly to the property’s official fine print to confirm an uncompromising minimum age of 18+.
  • Zero tolerance for contradictions. If a hotel advertises adults only on Instagram but notes “children welcome in private villas” in its booking conditions, it does not get listed here.
  • Curated for adults. We look for places with exceptional dining, calm pool areas, thoughtful spa facilities, and curated local activities.

The method in full is on How we verify, and every age floor we found is on the age-rules page.

Where we want to take this

Our goal over the next few years is simple: to make HUSH the most trusted home for adults-only travel in the world.

We want to save you the hours of frustrating research and give you total confidence that when you book a quiet escape, it will actually be quiet. Eventually, our dream is to visit and write comprehensive, on-the-ground guides for every single stay in the collection.

How we pay for this

When you book through a listing, our booking partner pays us a small commission out of the room rate. You pay the same price either way.

No hotel pays to be listed, and nobody can buy a place at the top.

We write the descriptions ourselves from the property’s own materials; the photographs, rooms and prices come from our booking partner.
