Magaluf's strip runs loud past midnight, and a few streets back from it, behind a gate and a run of Bali beds, four apartments sit around a pool that opens to chillout music in the morning and closes under a DJ set after dark. This is Sotavento Club Apartments, adults-only, close enough to walk to the beach and far enough that the terrace is yours. For two people who want the pool to be the plan, not an afterthought.
Each apartment is forty square metres — the Deluxe suite is forty-four — laid out as one bedroom, a sitting room, a kitchen you could actually cook in, and a private terrace looking onto the pool or the garden below. The rooms have just been redone: fresh paint and tile, two 43-inch smart TVs, a safe, air conditioning you set yourself. The Premium rooms sit on the second and third floors next to the Chillax area, with a heavier mattress and pillows in different firmness for anyone who asks. There are only four apartments, which is why the pool never feels crowded even when the afternoon DJ set is on.

Book one of the king-size Bali beds in the Chillax area, set apart from the main pool, and the afternoon DJ set becomes background rather than event. Mornings run to chillout music and a quiet coffee before the pool properly wakes up.
The pool bar runs from breakfast to cocktails after dark, and the kitchen at Flamingos does smash burgers and nachos loaded with chili con carne. Eat poolside, feet still wet.
A few steps from the apartments, a private villa with its own pool sleeps up to eight. Worth knowing if you're travelling as a group and want your own gate but the same walk back to the pool bar.
