Fifteen minutes out of Port Vila, the road ends at a strip of sand on the Pango Peninsula, the waves working the reef somewhere past the garden and the harbour mouth opening out beyond that. Four bungalows stand here, each with its own roof terrace, a garden restaurant under the trees, and a dive shed by the water. South Pacific Memories takes no guests under eighteen. For anyone who wants mornings measured in coffee on a terrace, and days measured by how far out along the reef they get.

Each bungalow carries one idea through, painted by the Ni-Vanuatu artist Robae Daniel: a branch of Hibiscus in the Hibiscus Tree, a floor-to-ceiling mandala in black and gold in the Buddha Bungalow, a hand-painted palm and stencilled Hibiscus in the Palm Garden, where the daylight comes in low and finds the ocean past the trees. The cupboard doors are cut on-site from local Pandanus. A ceiling fan, a coffee station, a safe, a terrace of your own. Four bungalows only, so the pool by evening is never more than a family's worth of ripples. Breakfast is at eight, on your terrace or in the room, before the reef gets its first swimmers. Anne and Petter run the house and teach the diving.

South Pacific Memories sets a minimum age of 18 in its own house rules, read on 25 August 2026. A house whose rule drops below eighteen, or stops naming an age, is taken off HUSH — how every house is checked.

Our tips

Coffee on the Buddha Bungalow roof

The terrace is half-covered by the leaves of a Christmas tree, and it's the spot for coffee before the day starts, or a quiet half hour under the stars before bed.

Dinner at Making Memories

The four-course set menu changes daily, drawn from Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cooking, and dinner runs from 6:30pm every night except Monday and Thursday. Book by 1pm the same day, then start at the cocktail bar from four for happy hour.

Snorkel Anne's Reef

It sits inside a Marine Protected Area a few steps from the dive centre, sheltered enough for an easy swim out, where you might pass moray eels, turtles, and a garden eel or two before you're back on the sand. Snorkel gear and reef shoes are both lent for free.

Watch the beach for dolphins

A school passes the shoreline several times a week, though nobody has met them underwater yet. Paddle out on a kayak first, or just wait it out from the sand, then back to the terrace for the evening's stars.
