Golden Beach and Golden Coast meet on Thassos's east side to make five kilometres of sand, the island's longest run, and Alexandra Golden Boutique Hotel stands right where the two join, close enough that the sea is the first thing at the end of the drive. It takes no guests under eighteen. Fifteen rooms face the water, kept for two people who want the beach outside the door and nothing else to plan.
Fifteen rooms is not enough people to crowd the two massage rooms, the double jacuzzi, or the cabin with the gravity beds, so the relax area with its hamam and emotion shower rarely fills. Treatments run through a couples massage cabin and a sweet spa cabin, and the pool has a massage kiosk built into the side of it. Outside, the beach starts where the hotel stops: golden sand, shallow at the edge, backed by the kind of dense green that reaches down to meet the water, with Mount Ypsarion standing over the whole bay.

The breakfast buffet had a lot of choice and there was something for all tastes. The hot food was always hot, bread fresh, nice fruits, pastries, hams and cheeses. We also ate at Dunes and the dinner choice was also...
