The road into Struan follows the shore of Loch Bracadale until it stops at a single chalet, tucked beside the house where Peggy and Donald live, on Skye's west coast. The Causeway is adults-only, built for two, with a private terrace facing straight across Loch Beag to the cliffs of Rubha nan Clach. There is no reception, no other guests to work around — just the two of you, a six-night minimum, and a week with nothing scheduled but the tide.
Inside it is oak floors, linen, and a kingsize bed under a window that holds the whole of Loch Beag. Sheepskin rugs are underfoot, and the bathroom has both a tub and a separate shower for after a day on the hills. The lounge holds a coal-effect fire, panoramic glass and a set of recliners, so a wet evening is spent watching an otter family work the water in front of the terrace instead of a screen. There is one room only, which is why arrival means Peggy or Donald walking over from the house next door to let you in themselves, and why the welcome pack — milk, butter, cheese, biscuits and tea — is stocked for two, not a lobby of strangers.

The chalet stands just above the shoreline of Loch Beag, its garden running down toward the water past hydrangeas, young trees and a gravel path. From the private terrace you look straight across the sea loch to the hills of Bracadale, close enough to watch herons, seals and oystercatchers work the tide. At low water a natural causeway opens toward a small island offshore — the feature that gives the house its name.
The living space is built around a wall of glass, so the loch and the changing weather are always the main event. Deep recliners sit where the light is best, a smart TV and coal-effect fire keep the evenings easy, and the open kitchen lets you cook a slow dinner without turning your back on the view. When the snow comes, the same windows frame a white, silent version of the same water.

Golden eagles circle the chalet and have been known to land right on the terrace; otters work the shoreline below most evenings. Bring the binoculars provided, pour something from the welcome pack, and wait — the sunsets over Loch Beag run long this far north.
Ten minutes on foot brings you to a pop-up street van serving hot food, with the Bog Myrtle café and bookshop next to it. Both are close enough to walk to and back to a lit fire before dark.
A short walk from the chalet is the ruin of an iron-age broch, standing above Loch Bracadale. From the top you get a clear run of both the Cuillins and Macleod's Tables — then it's back to the terrace in time to see what the eagles are doing.
The hills above the loch turn purple as the heather comes into bloom, and the light stretches long into a Skye evening. Outside those months the same slopes run green under the cliffs of Rubha nan Clach.
