H Palms Bed & Breakfast Rooms & prices

Sunset Coast Drive runs north out of Perth, past the beaches that stretch from Hillarys to Cottesloe, and eleven kilometres along it, Palms Bed & Breakfast sits behind its own garden and a shallow-end pool. Seven rooms, each with its own ensuite, which is why the breakfast area never feels crowded. Free parking, breakfast served daily, and Hillarys Boat Harbour eight kilometres off, with a ferry to Rottnest Island departing from the marina. For a couple who want the coast without a hotel lobby in the middle of it.

The three room types — Queen, Double, or Twin — differ mainly in the bed, but each comes with the same working kit: a ceiling fan and air conditioning both, tea and coffee making facilities, a bar fridge for keeping something cold, and a hairdryer for after the pool. Breakfast is served daily in the breakfast area, and the rest of the morning is yours: the outdoor seating area catches the sun, the garden is kept for lounging rather than looking at, and the pool has a shallow end if you are not swimming laps. Housekeeping comes through daily, so the room resets itself while you are out. There is free parking at the door and free Wi-Fi throughout, in case the two of you brought work you are pretending not to have.

Palms Bed & Breakfast sets a minimum age of 18 in its own house rules, read on 24 August 2026. A house whose rule drops below eighteen, or stops naming an age, is taken off HUSH — how every house is checked.

The location was excellent for our Bowling Championships at the local Bowling centre. The host was excellent looking after us very well. Providing breakfast in our room when we had an early start so that we would not...

Our tips

The shallow end of the pool

The pool has a shallow end, so it is not only for laps — take a book out and stay in past your ankles until lunch. Sun loungers are set out on the lawn, and the garden is planted more for sitting in than for looking at.

Breakfast, taken outdoors

Breakfast is served every morning and included in the room. Take it in the outdoor seating area if the weather holds, or at a table indoors if it does not.

Sorrento Quay at Hillarys

Ten minutes by car gets you to Sorrento Quay inside Hillarys Boat Harbour — an entertainment plaza, restaurants, and shops selling the usual souvenirs, plus parasailing, scuba diving, deep-sea fishing and charter yacht hire if you want the whole day out. Come back to the pool for the evening.

The Oceanarium's sea dragon

Also inside Hillarys Boat Harbour, the Oceanarium holds more than two thousand marine animals — sharks, turtles, stingrays, and the rare leafy sea dragon among them. A ferry to Rottnest Island leaves from the same marina, nineteen kilometres out, for a day trip rather than a stay.
