In the middle of Komotini, close enough to the university and the main square that the car can stay where it is, a doorway on Orfeos Street opens into a hotel that has been receiving guests since 1930. Olympos Hotel keeps the traditional feel of those decades in its rooms while adding the comforts you would expect now, and it takes no guests under eighteen. For anyone who wants a few unhurried days with the city on foot and nothing else scheduled.

The building has stood on Orfeos Street since 1930, and the hotel says it has kept the aesthetic of that tradition through the renovations that brought in the modern comforts. There are three rooms, so the front desk downstairs tends to know who is coming and going, and it is staffed around the clock if you arrive at an odd hour or need something at midnight. Breakfast is optional, though the hotel makes a point of saying you will struggle to skip it once it is in front of you. Down in the bar, a morning coffee turns into an evening drink, whichever end of a walk around Komotini you are catching it at. Staff will also arrange a rental car and take in laundry that needs a wash before your next stop.

Olympos Hotel sets a minimum age of 18 in its own house rules, read on 25 August 2026. A house whose rule drops below eighteen, or stops naming an age, is taken off HUSH — how every house is checked.

Our tips

Breakfast, optional but hard to skip

The hotel calls it optional, then admits you will have a hard time turning it down once it is in front of you. Have it before you set out into the old town, not after.

Coffee or a drink at the bar

The hotel's bar bookends the day — coffee before you go out to see Komotini, then whatever you are drinking once you are back from it.

The university and the square

Democritus University of Thrace and the city's central square are both within easy reach on foot, along with the local museums. Reception can point you to the shortest way to each.

Car hire and laundry, sorted

Ask at reception about renting a car for anything further out, and hand over what needs washing or pressing — the hotel arranges both through its regular contacts.
