Praiano sits on the Amalfi Coast where the Praia inlet cuts into the cliffs, boxed in by two high walls of rock, and Hotel La Perla stands above the water on Via Miglina. The village runs on stairs and narrow lanes, fishing quarters and open squares, sea and history within a few steps of each other. The hotel takes no guests under eighteen — informal, unhurried, and kept for a week with nothing scheduled, just the two of you.
Rooms are furnished in a plain classic style — nothing overstated, just the comforts a stay needs — and in some of them the window opens straight onto the bay at Capo di Conca and the old Saracen tower watching over it. There are seven rooms in total, few enough that breakfast, when the weather allows, is laid on the terrace for everyone at once: a sweet or savoury spread, filled out each morning with whatever fruit is in season and the cured meats and cheeses of the area, eaten looking down at the sea. Check-in runs from three in the afternoon to half past ten at night, checkout by eleven the next morning — nothing rushed at either end. It has been the D'Urso family's for more than forty years.
Hotel La Perla sets a minimum age of 18 in its own house rules, read on 24 August 2026. A house whose rule drops below eighteen, or stops naming an age, is taken off HUSH — how every house is checked.

On clear mornings, breakfast moves outside to the terrace over the sea rather than staying in the dining room — take the sweet or savoury spread built around whatever fruit is in season, plus the cured meats and cheeses of the area.
Walk the Sentiero degli Dei — eight kilometres between Agerola and Positano, about three hours through lemon terraces, old hermitages and a scrub of holm oak, arbutus and rosemary. The cooler months here are kept for exactly this kind of walking.
Take one of the private boats from the beach below — day trips, night trips, a shuttle to the coves along the coast, or your own rowboat, motorboat, canoe or inflatable. One route runs past the Fiordo di Furore to the Emerald Grotto at Conca dei Marini, with a swim off the Li Galli islands before Positano, then back in time for a drink at the bar.
Cross to Capri from Praia beach or from Positano and take the solarium deck for a last look at the coast — Sorrento, Vesuvius, Naples, the Faraglioni — on the way out. The boat is timed to have you back by late afternoon.
