Ten minutes on foot from Arambol beach, past lanes that have drawn long-stayers since the 1960s, sits Happy Panda Hostel — eleven rooms under mango trees, run by Sourabh and Kartik, who traded Pune's rush for Goa's slower one. It takes no guests under eighteen. For anyone who wants their days loose: a bean bag, a drum circle at sunset, nothing scheduled at all.
Inside, it's bean bags and mattresses rather than anything formal, and a neon room hung with work from artists who've passed through and left something behind. Outdoor seating sits under mango trees, where the bar pours feni and cheap beer until whoever's still talking calls it a night, and a Bluetooth jukebox takes requests from whoever wants to plug in. Eleven rooms, which is why the lockers run big — each one sized to swallow a whole backpack, not just the valuables. The Wi-Fi is built for people actually working, not just checking a map. 1. All guests (including Indian citizens) are required to produce their original passports at check-in. We do not accommodate guests without passports. We're all travelers here after all.
2. Maximum Number of people allowed in a group booking is 2 and will be strictly followed at the check-in. Please don't make 2 or more bookings to avoid the policy of Maximum 2 people in a group (Such bookings will be canceled, refund will not be our fault)
3. No kids under 18, no pets (except if you have a pet Panda) :D
4. Our frontdesk is open from 9 A.M AM to 11 PM. If you are arriving out of this slot, please inform 24 hours in advance.
We take your arrival time very seriously. If you're arriving late, please inform us so that we keep your bed. We try to call / message to verify. But if there is no information or response, we cancel the beds after 3-4 hours of arrival time.
IMPORTANT :- Guests who do not mention their arrival time while reserving their beds, their default arrival is considered as 13:00. And we would only wait until 17:00 for such reservations.
5. Age Restriction :- Only guests between the AGE GROUP OF 18 - 40 are allowed. We do not allow Guest below 18 and Above 40 years of age.
6. International payment - 3.5% surcharge . Domestic Credit Card Payments- 2.5% surcharge .
7.Guests only – Non-guests and walk-ins are not permitted inside the hostel campus without the hostel’s approval.
8. No substances – Drugs or any form of substance abuse are strictly banned inside and around the property.
9.Food & alcohol – Outside alcohol and food are not allowed. Our yummy and cheap in-house bar and kitchen are here for you.
10.Public Parking – Limited open parking may be available at the owner’s discretion. The hostel is not responsible for any loss or damage. Confirm availability in advance.
12.Smoking – Prohibited inside dorms and private rooms.
13.Noise & respect – Respect your fellow travelers, staff, and the property. Loud or disruptive behavior, especially at night, may lead to cancelation without refund.Please inform of your expected arrival time in advance. A short walk north off the main beach, travellers gather a few hours before sunset with drums, handpans and didgeridoos, and stalls of handmade jewellery and clothes spread out along the sand. Walk back for feni at the bar under the mango trees.
Past the drum circle, the jungle valley hides a banyan tree and a stone carved by land artist Jacek Tylicki: 'Give if you can – Take if you have to.' It's become something of a pilgrimage stop for the ones who linger in Arambol rather than pass through it.
Arambol fills between November and March, when the international crowd arrives and the beach is busiest — the season the town was really built for. Outside those months, expect quieter lanes and the same mango-tree bar.
